Tanzania

S erengeti is the largest National Park in Tanzania, and one of Africa's premier game parks. The Serengeti plains are the setting for the most awesome wildlife spectacle on earth. Each year, more than a million wildebeest, zebras and gazelles begin their great circular migration across the open plains and acacia woodlands. Huge columns of advancing zebras and ungainly wildebeest stretch as far as the eye can see, and lions and hyenas follow in their wake.

Stunning safari lodges are well placed all over the Serengeti to take advantage of the huge numbers of animals passing by at certain times of the year. Each area also has resident animals that don't go too far away and wherever you are in the Serengeti, you should get to see elephants, giraffes, all sorts of antelopes, lion, jackals and a variety of eagles and colourful birds.

The Greatest Lawnmower in History The Serengeti migration is driven purely by the search for better grazing and once found, these animals become the most efficient lawnmower in history. About 1.5 million wildebeest, 300,000 Thomson's gazelle and 250,000 zebras, munch and grunt their way around the Serengeti in a never ending circuit.

Vultures are also avid consumers of the great mobile meat supply and a wildebeest killed by lions will attract a sky full of circling birds of prey. Waiting their turn on the ground are spotted hyenas, who may steal the kill away from the lions, and silver-backed jackals who pinch morsels when they can. All the creatures large and small have their part to play in Mother Nature's perfect cycle of life in the Serengeti.

Serengeti, meaning 'endless plains' in the Maasai language has large rock "kopjes" dotting the grasslands. These islands of rock are home to their own wildlife communities with cheetah, leopard, and rock hyrax (resembling a giant guinea pig), to name a few. Everywhere you look there is life in one form or another, all following time-ingrained cycles.

The Serengeti is historically Maasai land and understanding how communities live alongside wild animals, will enrich your safari experience. Most lodges host cultural talks and Maasai dance displays, at which you will be totally amazed how the warriors jump straight up as if on springs. ..

Our Father which art in heaven,Hallowed be thy name ,Thy kingdom come,Thy will be done on the earth as it is in heaven may believe in almost High " ONLY GOD CAN JUDGE ME ".
